This position is responsible for assisting the Medical Coding Manager in oversight, implementation and research of all medical coding related system changes. The position is responsible for being current on all medical coding regulations and requirements.
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Assist in research and analysis to determine solutions to coding issues presented by AHCCCS internal staff, contracted health plans, provider and other community stakeholders. Serves as subject matter expert across multiple topics involving the Reference Table Review and Update Process and Medical Coding email questions. Review Medical claims submitted for accuracy and writing up written reports.
* Assists in the annual, and quarterly parameter development for all new, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and CDT codes.
* Assists with the Coding Benefits Review Team (CBRT) cross divisional meeting.
* Assists with project interface with Information Services Division (ISD) to affect procedure and system changes needed to be in compliance with the current regulations and requirements for medical coding.
Minimum:
* Two years of professional experience in the medical coding field with an emphasis in Medicaid or Medicare Environment and current CPC or CCS coding certification in good standing is required.
Preferred:
* Read and understand the CMS PPRRVU and I/OCE as well as the CLIA language.
* Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
* Successfully pass fingerprint background check, prior employment verifications and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
* Travel may be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record for the last 39 months including no DUI, suspension or revocations and less than 8 points on your license. If an Out of State Driver License was held within the last 39 months, a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required prior to driving for State Business. Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
