Benefits of Working for AHCCCS
At AHCCCS, we know our employees are the foundation and support of our organization. In return, we support them by providing comprehensive benefits, workplace flexibility, career development opportunities, and recognition activities.
We Have Great Benefits!
The State of Arizona offers a robust and affordable benefits package that focuses on improved health care and is committed to helping employees and eligible family members to be well and stay well for life!
Health Care Benefits
You will be eligible to participate in the State employee health/disability insurance plans and may enroll any time within the first 31 days of your hire date. Your benefits will become effective on the first day of the subsequent pay period after you have completed and submitted your benefit elections enrollment.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Contracted EAP providers offer free, confidential, short-term counseling services to employees and eligible family members. The free counseling can help handle concerns or issues constructively, before they become a major problem. In addition to counseling, EAP offers work-life benefits and referrals to local affordable resources such as substance abuse, relationship and family crises, and legal and financial difficulties
Additional health benefits and resources are offered through the State of Arizona Wellness Program. The program provides free or low-cost educational programs, health screenings, interactive web tools, and health-related services. Other campaigns organized by Wellness include the Mayo Clinic Health Assessment, Annual Flu Vaccines, Mini Health Screenings, and the Tobacco Cessation Program.
Retirement and Long-Term Disability (LTD)
State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
Holidays and Leave
State employees receive 10 paid holidays and may earn an additional 13 to 21 days of vacation leave per year, depending on the employee's tenure with the State. Employees are also provided 12 days of sick leave per year, of which, up to 5 days can be used for the care of eligible family members.
Capitol Rideshare is a travel reduction program for State of Arizona employees in Maricopa County that actively promotes alternatives to the single driver commuting to work. Subsidies for riding the bus (including the light rail), vanpool and matching drivers to carpools are just a few of the services offered. "Being part of AHCCCS and the California Army National Guard can be a huge workload to balance, but having an open environment on both ends has made balancing life easier. My management works well with me to allow me to balance family, military, and my job."
