This is a virtual office position not restricted to Arizona, AHCCCS will accept out-of-state candidates.

Hiring Incentive:

A one-time sign on incentive of $5,000 will be paid in one lump sum payment within 30 days from the hire date. The onetime sign on incentive is taxable, and all regular payroll taxes will be withheld. Should the selected candidate voluntarily terminate employment within the first 12 months from the hire date, the State of Arizona will withhold a prorated amount of the incentive from the selected candidates final pay.

Job Summary:

The Division of Business and Finance (DBF) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Actuary. This position is to provide actuarial expertise and services to AHCCCS by developing actuarially sound capitation rate ranges, determining reasonable adjustments to capitation rates based on trends, changes in AHCCCS policies, rules, state statutes, federal rules, and federal laws. These services involve review and pricing for multiple AHCCCS programs. This position will develop and update models to help with actuarial analysis including, but not limited to, completion factor, encounter, trend and program change look back. In addition to developing a risk adjustment model for in-house use. Assist in Requests for Proposals (RFP) and related negotiations. This position will also help provide technical support for RFP development for all competitively-bid AHCCCS programs.

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Developing actuarially sound rates for AHCCCS programs, preparing actuarial certifications for submission to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and certifying that capitation rates are actuarially sound.

* Developing models to help with actuarial analysis.

* Calculating costs for potential program changes and performing ad hoc analysis.

* Two years experience with healthcare actuarial services.

* Bachelor's degree in a related field.
* Member of American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) and either Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
* Experience with the Arizona marketplace and/or heavily managed care markets.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

* Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.

* Travel may be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record for the last 39 months including no DUI, suspension or revocations and less than 8 points on your license. If an Out of State Driver License was held within the last 39 months, a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required prior to driving for State Business. Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
