The newly established Division of Community Advocacy and Intergovernmental Relations (DCAIR) ensures Health Plan and Program Contractors’ resolution of consumer affairs and human rights issues and compliance with related aspects of their contracts. The DCAIR is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a State Intern. Reporting directly to the Public Information Officer the intern position will offer a student a period of practical experience in the administrative health care industry relating to their field of study. The Communications Intern will assist the Division of Health Care Advocacy and Intergovernmental Relations with all aspects of the agency’s external, public-facing communication. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Generate social media content and maintain/augment AHCCCS’s social media presence.

* Assist in planning, writing, designing and managing monthly eNewsletter, press releases, media alerts, website content, blog posts and Powerpoint presentations.

* Design and writing flyers and handouts.

* Organize and attend bi-weekly marketing committee meeting including preparing agenda and taking minutes.

* Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for external communications.

* Other duties as assigned as related to the position.


* Computer literacy (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel required. Adobe InDesign and Photoshop knowledge desired.)

* Self-motivated, good organizational skills, and attention to detail.

* Able to work independently, prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
