Office of General Counsel (OGC)
The Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides legal counsel to the AHCCCS administration. OALS oversees the administrative hearing process and is responsible for the agency's administrative rulemaking process.
The administrative hearing process provides an appeal mechanism for applicants, members, providers, and other entities. Major components of the administrative hearing process include an informal adjudication process, the scheduling of hearings, and the issuance of agency decisions following a hearing.
The Office of General Counsel offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in a specialized, dynamic, and critical area of law that directly contributes to the well-being of a significant number of Americans. The office and the agency accomplish its work through collaborative efforts of dedicated teams of innovative subject matter experts in the areas of policy, medical management, contract oversight, provider reimbursement, program eligibility, fraud and abuse, human resources, information systems, budget and finance.
