This position is eligible for part-time/full-time remote work (including virtual office arrangement). Must reside in the State of Arizona.  

Job Summary:

The Division of Business and Finance is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Budget Analyst. The budget analyst is an expert in the administrative budget of their assigned divisions. This includes monitoring current spending, forecasting future spending, and developing budgets for each division for the upcoming fiscal year.

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Develops and maintains spending plans for divisions of the agency, including determining fund sourcing and timing of expenditures.
* Aids in the development of the agency's annual budget request, including reviewing requests and making recommendations to leadership based on information gathered.
* Prepares appropriation loads and transfers in AFIS.
* Meets with division leadership monthly to track expenditures, variance from spending plans, and forecast spending through the remainder of the year.
* Acts as budget approver for divisions in APP and determine the proper coding for requisitions when divisions request.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

* Principles and practices of budgeting procedures and techniques.
* Data analysis.

* Analysis and evaluation of organizational spending.
* Intermediate skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
* Exercising independent judgment.

* Work independently as well as a collaborative environment.
* Understand complex budget structures.
* Interpret Arizona Revised Statutes, state policies and procedures, federal rules, and regulations.


* Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, public administration, or a related field; or 1-2 years of experience in governmental budgeting, public finance, or a related area.

* 2+ years of experience in governmental budgeting, public finance, or a related area.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

* Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
* Successfully pass fingerprint background check, prior employment verifications and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
* Travel may be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record for the last 39 months including no DUI, suspension or revocations and less than 8 points on your license. If an Out of State Driver License was held within the last 39 months, a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required prior to driving for State Business. Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
