Public Policy & Strategic Planning
The Division of Public Policy and Strategic Planning (DPPSP) leads AHCCCS’s strategic planning and innovation efforts, while managing relationships with legislative and federal partners. The division ensures that AHCCCS remains forward-thinking, policy-aligned, and responsive to stakeholder needs.
DPPSP is made up of three key offices:
- Office of Federal Relations
- Develops and manages federal initiatives, including the State Plan and 1115 Waiver.
- Serves as the liaison to CMS, the Governor’s Office, and other federal stakeholders.
- Coordinates policy updates, stakeholder engagement, and Medicaid advisory meetings.
- Advises leadership on health policy and legislative initiatives.
- Office of Legislative Affairs
- Acts as the bridge between AHCCCS and the Arizona Legislature.
- Educates lawmakers on Medicaid policies and analyzes the impact of proposed legislation.
- Supports implementation of new laws, manages constituent services, and collaborates with other state agencies.
- Office of Continuous Improvement & Project Management
- Drives operational excellence using Lean principles from the Arizona Management System (AMS).
- Supports strategic and operational projects through governance, collaboration, and best practices.
- Enhances agency efficiency and service delivery through process improvement and project execution.
