Information Services Division
The Information Services Division (ISD) has two primary objectives. One is to process data and the other is to protect that data. These two categories account for a wide range of services. ISD is responsible for the PC's/laptops at each desk, the networking that lets them communicate, and all of the systems with which they interact. Our largest system, PMMIS, is the system of record for the majority of the health plan type services provided by AHCCCS. It is responsible for prior authorization, enrollment of recipients, claims processing, encounter processing, etc. PMMIS was developed in-house over 30 years ago and is still maintained by AHCCCS staff. In addition, the state of Hawaii also uses this system (HPMMIS). We are the only two states that share a complete MMIS system.
A key initiative for ISD is the Medicaid Enterprise system (MES) Modernization Program which will modernize and upgrade the systems used to provide healthcare access and services for AHCCCS community members. We have already migrated our data to a cloud platform to ensure data sustainability and safety and are working on replacing PMMIS and other legacy systems to ensure data platform stability and adaptability for future needs. ISD will be implementing Systems Integration to allow self-service for applicants, members, providers, MCOs and employees to improve responsiveness. We are committed to developing sustainable processes and systems that will continue into the future and allow AHCCCS to innovate as needed.
